Mike Leahy

Natural Community Ecologist, Missouri Department of Conservation

Mike Leahy has nearly 30 years of experience working for state agencies in field ecology, natural areas conservation, and natural heritage programs. Trained initially in the fields of forestry and forest ecology (BS University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, MS Michigan State University) he has expanded his horizons to study a wide range of natural community types in the Midwest. He has authored a number of technical, peer-reviewed and popular natural history publications. Currently he is the natural community ecologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation. He lives in Jefferson City, Missouri, with his wife and son. Mike enjoys hiking, botanizing, birding, fishing, camping, and exploring streams with his family.
